The right candidate will be responsible for providing compassionate care and assistance to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Proven experience of working with young adults with disabilities in either a paid or voluntary capacity is desirable for this role. Karuna Living are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults.
Karuna Companion Main Responsibilities and duties
* Provide supervision and guidance during daily living skills activities.
* Develop and implement individual care plans and monitor health care needs.
* Assist with personal care including washing, dressing, bathing, toileting, medication monitoring.
* Escort or accompany our service users to appointments, social outings, and other events.
* Cultivate safe and supportive relationships.
* Ensure that all care is completed within Karuna Livings policies and procedures and in line with CQC Fundamental Standards, and all legislative requirements.
* Maintain appropriate records to meet the needs of the service.
* Contribute to and work effectively as a team.
Karuna Companion Qualifications and skills
* GCSE/Fundamental Skills or equivalent in English, Maths, and ICT.
* NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent, or commitment to work towards accreditation.
* Excellent organisational, interpersonal, communication skills, and an understanding of confidentiality
* Motivated to support and facilitate the development of the young adult.
* Valid driving licence.
* Proven compassionate and patient demeanour with a passion for helping people.
